Sherita Cherry is the owner of Genesis Hair Art and MAK Beauty Institute South in Atlanta, Georgia . She is an award-winning hair stylist and is recognized as one of the finest hair stylists in Atlanta and was named as one of Atlanta’s Most Influential entrepreneurs in Who’s Who in Black Atlanta. She was recently honored with the Phoenix Award by Mayor Kasim Reed for her commitment to the community by mentoring teenage girls. Sherita’s most prestigious recognition was the Bronner Bros. Annual ICON Awards, in which she was named “Rising ICON”.

A licensed Master Educator, Sherita travels the country as a National Color Educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems while still maintaining a celebrity clientele such as Grammy award-winning group Destiny’s Child’s Michelle Williams, former member Letoya Luckett, and Grammy award-winning gospel duo Mary Mary, to name a few. As a recipient of the Highest Achievement Award by Clairol Professional, she serves as Brand Ambassador judging hair color competitions throughout the United States. In addition, Sherita’s professional expertise and stellar reputation gives a competitive edge to hair design and styling events throughout the country. She has won numerous competitions with the most recent Bronner Brothers Hair Show-Grab Bag Competition and now serves as an International Competition Celebrity Judge at Bronner Brothers Hair Shows. Sherita also has national experience with women’s health issues following her work with former United States Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin. On that project, she collaborated with Dr. Benjamin on a nationwide campaign “Styling Healthier Futures” sponsored by United Healthcare, to educate African-American women on staying fit while looking beautiful.

As a committed beauty professional, Sherita consistently and passionately uses her entrepreneurial spirit and knowledge to help others achieve success in the beauty industry and in 2014 founded two outstanding training programs. This ambitious and highly successful endeavor is growing and now includes (1) “Stylists Who Brunch”, an exclusive networking event that serves as a platform for mentorship to beauty professionals by other successful beauty industry experts; and (2) “Stylists Who Launch”, a series of salon management and development training seminars for salon owners.

Sherita’s reputation of dedication and commitment to the beauty industry has allowed her to be sought out by local and national celebrities. With her savvy edge and creative hair color techniques, she is considered a leader in the beauty industry. Sherita is recognized in National and International hair magazines and her salon was listed among the “Top 100 Hair Salons” and “Top Hair Color Salons in the South” by Black Hair Styles and Trends Magazine. A graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Sherita was honored in the Clark Atlanta University’s Alumni Magazine for her business savvy ethics and for being a gifted and generous philanthropist. She was labeled by Bronner Brothers as “The Leader of the Beauty Industry for the New Generation”.

In addition, to managing her busy schedule, Sherita finds time to serve in the community. She is an active member of The National Coalition of 100 Black Women-MECCA Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated.
